
Snow View as the name suggests is the point from where you get the best view of the snow laden peaks of the Himalayas. Situated just less than 3 km from the main town of Nainital, it is easy accessible by road or by riding on ponies through the winding paths or by one of the best-known way to reach up there on a cable car [Ropeway] from where you even get an aerial view of the entire town below and the watch yourself ascending through the mighty mountains. It is perched at an altitude of 2,270 mts or 7,448 ft above mean sea level atop the Sher-Ka-Danda [Tiger's Ridge] which lies on the north by northeast section of the centre town.
The Cable car is opened seven days a week from 1000 hrs to 1700 hrs and charges Rs. 100/- per Adult and Rs. 60/- per child for both ways for an hour stay. It is best to visit this peak on a clear sunny day in order to get a clear view of the spectacular snowbound peaks of those majestic Himalayan Mountains including Nanda Devi Peak [7817 mts], Trishul [7120 mts] and Nanda Kot [6861 mts]. You can also see the stretch of peaks commencing from the Bunder punch Glaciers in the west to the Api Peak and Nari Peak in the east in Nepal.
For tourists to enjoy these enthralling views, it is best to visit this point from the months of late October to early November. This point has numerous small souvenir shops and eating joints where you can enjoy a steaming hot cup of tea with snacks. For devotees, they can offer their prayers in a Temple that was built here after the point was established. For avid photographers, this place offers numerous opportunities to enhance and hone your skills in photography.
